Europe continues to sweat.

In the European Parliament, the heat wave has knocked out some of the air conditioning.

At the same time, both schools and the Eiffel Tower are closed in France.

Large parts of the European Parliament have not had working air conditioning since last night, reports Politico.

According to the newspaper, the system was completely disabled due to the unusually high temperatures in Brussels.

Party groups whose offices are affected include the Greens and the Conservatives. Technicians are working on Wednesday to get the air conditioning going.

Eiffel Tower still closed

The heatwave continues to wreak havoc in other parts of Europe. In Paris, the Eiffel Tower is closed for the second day in a row for the safety of all visitors.

The French capital is expected to hit at least 35 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, while other cities are expected to reach 40 degrees Celsius, AP reports. The heat wave has led to around 1,300 schools closing all or part of their operations.

In Spain, extreme heat has caused forest fires that have led to two deaths. In large parts of the country, Spain's meteorological institute is warning of temperatures reaching over 40 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.

"Please take extreme precautions," Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez wrote in a post on X.
