Finnish media watched the news broadcasts of Russia's three main channels on Saturday and described below how Russian propaganda media covered the meeting between the leaders of Ukraine and the US.

Yle adds that Russian state-run television channels are well-known for spreading fake news and propaganda, and the EU, as well as the US, have imposed sanctions on several Russian journalists.

"Cold shower" for Zelensky

On all channels, the meeting between Zelensky and Trump was called a disappointment for Ukraine.

At the top of the Russian news list was information that the US would not supply Ukraine with Tomahawk cruise missiles.

"A warm welcome for Zelensky turned into a cold shower," a news anchor on the Kremlin propaganda channel Rossiya-1 said in an afternoon broadcast.

"Trump made it clear that he wants to avoid escalation. The US president believes that the conflict can be resolved without supplying this type of weapons," said a news anchor on the Rossiya-1 channel.

Meanwhile, Russia's second most-watched television channel, Channel One, claimed that the Zelensky-Trump meeting demonstrated an improvement in US relations with Russia.

"Trump is continuing the course he started with Vladimir Putin in Anchorage, while talks with Zelensky have, to put it mildly, receded into the background," the Channel One news anchor said on the news.

Propaganda media is particularly attracted to Hegsett's tie

The news broadcasts on all three major Russian channels were very similar, and all channels paid special attention to the tie of US Defense Secretary Pete Hegsett.

"Whether it was a coincidence or just a coincidence, he couldn't have found a more revealing tie for discussions with the Ukrainian delegation than a tie in the colors of the Russian [flag]," noted a Channel One reporter.

Then, a news report on the aggressor country's channel prominently displayed a photo of a similar tie, which is being sold in an online store and is called a"Russian flag tie." Then, a tie with the stars of the US flag was also prominently displayed on the screen, so that viewers would understand that Hegsett's tie could not refer only to the colors of the US flag.

Russian news programs also tried to claim that Trump received Zelensky half an hour later because he had met with a guest he liked better, the famous opera singer Andrea Bocelli, before the Ukrainian leader.

The portal"Apollo.lv" already reported that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has once again managed to influence US President Donald Trump, foreign press reports after the meeting between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Washington on Friday.

Meanwhile, CNN, citing informed sources, reported that Trump and Zelensky had a"tense, frank and at times uncomfortable discussion" when they met in Washington.
