Internal PSOE Conflict

The first controversy of the PSOE Federal Committee arose this Saturday before its start. Francisco Salazar, who was proposed on Friday by Pedro Sánchez as deputy to the Secretariat of Organization and secretary of Analysis and Electoral Action, has resigned following the news reported by 'El Diario' that several of his colleagues had reported him for inappropriate behavior.

Immediately after Pedro Sánchez's speech, sources from Moncloa indicated that Salazar had also requested to be provisionally removed from his responsibilities for Institutional Coordination of the Presidency of the Government, following the information released this morning.

According to the same sources, the General Secretariat of the Presidency has implemented established mechanisms to clarify the known facts and determine whether to activate the protocol for action against sexual and gender-based harassment. The Moncloa office indicates that no employee has requested the activation of this mechanism, nor has it been made aware of any verbal or physical act or behavior of a sexual nature that could constitute degrading, offensive, or intimidating behavior that could affect Francisco Salazar.

Salazar was one of three deputies to the new Secretary of Organization, Rebeca Torró, along with Anabel Mateos (Secretary of Territorial Coordination) and Borja Cabezón (Secretary of Transparency and Democratic Action). Both will remain as deputies, and Salazar's position, according to socialist sources, will not be filled.

He was a member of Congress for two terms and mayor of Montellano (Seville) between 2003 and 2008. Since 2017 he was Secretary of Electoral Action and between June 2018 and March 2018 he was General Director of Analysis and Studies, an agency attached to the Presidency of the Government.
