The alleged murderer People's Deputy Andriy Parubiy detained a few minutes ago in the Khmelnytskyi region, reported in his Telegram channel Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko.

"The alleged shooter was detained in the Khmelnytskyi region a few minutes ago. There won't be many details now. I will just say that the crime was carefully prepared: the deceased's travel schedule was studied, a route was laid, and an escape plan was thought out," said the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

According to him, the disclosure of the crime and the detention were under the personal control of the President of Ukraine.

Klymenko added that dozens of police officers from the Lviv region and the central apparatus of the National Police, as well as employees of the Security Service of Ukraine, worked tirelessly to solve the brazen murder of Andriy Parubiy.

"Once again, police officers and employees of the Security Service of Ukraine showed a high level of professionalism. 24 hours after the murder, they were already on the direct trail of the shooter, and 36 hours later they were detained. More details will be provided by the police later," Klymenko wrote.

He thanked the Lviv Region Police and the central office of the National Police, the Security Service employees, the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, and the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office for their brilliant work.

"A professional and unified law enforcement system is the basis of security and peace in the country," Klymenko noted.

By the way, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was the first reported on the arrest of the alleged murderer of the politician:

"The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko and the Head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Malyuk have just reported on the detention of the suspect in the murder of Andriy Parubiy. The necessary investigative actions are underway. I have instructed to present the available information to the public. I thank the law enforcement officers for their prompt and coordinated work. All circumstances of this terrible murder must be clarified."

Also in the SBU confirmed information about the arrest of the suspect.

"The suspect was detained in the Khmelnytskyi region. According to the investigation, the assassination attempt on the people's deputy was carefully prepared in advance: the perpetrator studied the deceased's travel schedule, plotted the route, and prepared an escape plan," the report says.

The department added that investigative actions are ongoing. Law enforcement officers will provide additional information about the further course of the investigation.

The Parubiy Murder

UNIAN previously reported that military expert and former SBU employee Ivan Stupak said that all possible versions of the murder of the former Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy. He added that the main version of Parubiy's murder is considered to be Russian involvement. Other versions include business interests, something related to property, conflicts with colleagues and partners.

We also wrote that Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi reported that Andriy Parubiy will be buried at the Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv. On Monday, September 1, at 7:00 p.m., a parastas (funeral service) will begin at St. George's Archcathedral Cathedral. Sadovy added that on Tuesday, September 2, at noon, a funeral service will also begin at St. George's Cathedral.
