According to VSquare, NATO and EU partners were not aware of Orbán's plan to visit Russia, and the trip was probably not coordinated with the United States either.
One European source believes that the meeting has been planned for a long time and represents a continuation of Orbán's tradition of annual meetings with Putin.
VSquare's diplomatic sources say Orbán will travel with a"larger delegation of several dozen people," including Foreign Minister Peter Sijart, Construction and Transport Minister Janos Lazar and National Security Adviser Marcel Biro.
The main purpose of the visit, according to media sources, is to discuss energy issues, especially after the decision of the USA to grant Hungary a one-year exemption from sanctions on Russian oil and gas.
