President of the United States of America Donald Trump made a series of statements about the war in Ukraine amid a recent conversation with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
In particular, during the briefing, the American leader said that Europe wants to end the war in Ukraine, but it"can't." At the same time, Trump himself, he said, can do it.
Deliveries of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine
The US President says that during a conversation with Putin, the latter tried to dissuade him from supplying Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine:
"Of course (he tried), what do you think? What would he say: 'Please sell (Ukraine) these missiles, I would be very grateful?'"
In addition, according to him, he also tried to ask Putin's opinion on the transfer of these missiles.
"I said to Putin, 'Would you mind if I gave a few thousand Tomahawk missiles to your opponents?' He didn't like the idea," the US president added.
At the same time, Trump did not say whether Ukraine would receive these weapons. The American leader stated that the United States really needs the Tomahawks, and Washington cannot waste its own stock of these missiles.
Trump's meeting with Putin
Donald Trump said his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to take place within two weeks. He had previously said they would meet in Budapest, Hungary.
He also once again said that relations between Volodymyr Zelensky and the Kremlin dictator are bad, which is why Trump will have to organize separate meetings with them:
"There is a problem, they (Putin and Zelensky) don't get along very well. Sometimes it's difficult to organize a meeting. We can do something separately. Separately, but as equals, we will meet and talk," the US president explained.
