According to the Ukrainian army, these bridges near the border of Ukraine's Kharkiv region were used by the Russian army to supply its soldiers.
Given the strategic importance of the bridges, they were mined so that the Russian army could blow them up if necessary in the event of a sudden Ukrainian offensive.
It is not uncommon for an army under attack to destroy bridges, roads, and other important infrastructure in its territory to delay the enemy's advance.
Ukraine did this at the start of a full-scale invasion in February 2022, when bridges on the roads leading to Kyiv were blown up. This delayed the Russian advance and protected the Ukrainian capital.
In the case of these two bridges, the Ukrainian army in Russia learned about the mine stockpiles and used them to its advantage.
The video ends abruptly as the drone crashes into the warehouse. Another video, filmed from a distance, shows a loud explosion. CNN has identified the bridge as being in the Belgorod region of southern Russia, near the Ukrainian border.
"Then we decided to check the other bridge. We discovered that it was also mined, and we carried out a strike," said a brigade spokesman, adding:"We saw an opportunity and took advantage of it."
The drones used in these attacks cost between 25,000 and 30,000 Ukrainian hryvnia, or about $600-$725, a spokesman for the brigade told CNN.
This makes these two attacks extremely advantageous. Destroying a bridge from a distance is no easy task.
Typically, this would require the use of expensive guided munitions delivered by sophisticated systems such as missile launchers or aircraft.
