Gaza Peace Summit in Egypt

Ceasefire and Peace Process

Trump answered questions from reporters on his plane to Egypt to attend the Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit, which will convene today regarding the ceasefire agreement reached in Gaza. Noting that many different Muslim countries, especially Turkey, Qatar, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates, have made significant contributions to the ceasefire that has come into effect in Gaza, Trump said, “By the way, Turkey was great, too. President Erdoğan was great, he was really helpful. He is very respected. He has a very strong nation, a very strong army.”

Trump also responded to reporters' questions about whether the agreed-upon ceasefire could be maintained by saying,"The war is over, the war is over, do you understand?"

Emphasizing the many reasons for maintaining the ceasefire, Trump said,"People are tired. Not just recently, people have been tired for centuries. I think everyone knows their place. It will be great for Israel, for the Muslim countries around it, for everyone. I think it will stay that way."

Trump, who noted that he did not think there would be a need for international forces in Gaza, said,"I don't know, we need to take care of the people there first. It's in complete ruin right now," when asked,"When will the Gaza Riviera be?"

When asked whether he would visit Gaza, Trump said,"I would love to, and I would be proud to. I see it without visiting, but I would like to set foot there. Gaza will be a magnificent miracle in the decades to come."

US President Donald Trump left the White House to attend the "Sharm el-Sheikh Summit for Peace" to be held tomorrow regarding the ceasefire agreement reached in Gaza. Trump made a statement to reporters before boarding the plane.

Stating that everyone is very excited about the ceasefire that came into effect in Gaza, Trump said there is joy in Muslim and Arab countries as well as in Israel.

"Usually, one person cheers and the other doesn't, and vice versa. This is a moment where everyone is surprised and excited for the first time, and it's an honor to be included. We're going to have a great time, and it's going to be something you've never seen before," Trump said.

In a written statement made by the Egyptian Presidency, it was announced that the international summit titled"Sharm al-Sheikh Peace Summit" will be held tomorrow, with the co-chairs of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and US President Donald Trump and the participation of leaders from more than 20 countries.

According to the White House's schedule, Trump will first fly to Israel, meet with families of Israeli prisoners of war, address the Knesset, and then proceed to the Sharm el-Sheikh Summit. He is expected to return to the US on Tuesday.
