Hard rock legend Ozzy Osbourne has died, reports Sky News.

The announcement comes just a few weeks after his farewell concert with Black Sabbath.

He was 76 years old.

Ozzy Osbourne rose to fame as the lead singer of the band Black Sabbath in the early 1970s, laying the foundation for the metal genre. He also enjoyed great success as a solo artist in the 1980s.

Iron Man, Paranoid, Crazy Train and Changes are some of his biggest hits.

Osbourne was diagnosed with Parkinson's and also suffered from other health problems in recent years.

"It is with greater sadness than words can describe that we must announce that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love," his wife Sharon and children Aimee, Kelly, Jack and Louis wrote in a statement.

On July 5th of this year, he made his final appearance when he took to the stage in his hometown of Birmingham with Black Sabbath.
