The Federal Bureau of Investigation has increased the number of cases against spies from countries considered adversaries of the United States, including China, Iran, and Russia.

This was stated on Wednesday by the current FBI Director, Kesh Patel, at a special press conference at the White House, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"We are pursuing the espionage activities of our main adversaries – China, Russia and Iran," the head of the bureau said.

He said that the number of arrests and prosecutions for espionage against Chinese officials alone has increased by more than 50%. There has also been a 50% increase in espionage cases against those acting in the interests of Iran. And with regard to Russia, the number of such cases has increased by 33%, Patel said.

He also noted that the number of actions taken against foreign intelligence activities by the FBI has increased to 125 cases since the beginning of this year, compared to 100 for the whole of last year.

In addition, he said, efforts to combat cybercrime have increased.
