Welcome to our live coverage of the Charlie Kirk shooting
The widow of prominent conservative activist Charlie Kirk has given a direct message to Donald Trump — as she broke down in a live address to the world.
Later she also shared intimate images and videos of her and her late husband’s body as he lay in his coffin.
“World is evil,” she wrote alongside a deeply personal post on Instagram.
It comes as US officials have captured the man accused of killing Mr Kirk after a family member helped to turn him in after a frantic manhunt.
“We got him,” Utah Governor Spencer Cox told a press conference on Friday morning local time.
Mr Cox identified the suspect as Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old Utah local, and said the arrest was made after one of Robinson’s relatives contacted a friend, who then contacted the police.
Anti-fascist slogans were engraved on two of the unused bullet casings found after the assassination of Mr Kirk, Mr Cox confirmed.
The gunman fired a single, fatal shot killing Mr Kirk – a 31-year-old who rallied youth support for US President Donald Trump – during an appearance at a Utah university on Wednesday.
