Critical of Thunberg

According to AFP's latest news, Israel announced that Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, who was detained with other activists on an aid boat heading to Gaza, was deported and left the country on a plane to France.

According to the Times of Israel, three other activists on the ship were deported after Greta Thunberg. There is no definitive information yet on the identities of the other deportees and where the rest are being held.

 'ISRAEL VIOLATED RIGHTS'

Activist Greta Thunberg, who was deported to France by Israel, has arrived in Paris, the capital of France. Speaking to reporters at the airport, Thunberg called for the release of other activists detained on the Freedom Flotilla. She described the"very chaotic and uncertain" situation during her detention.

He said the conditions they faced were"absolutely nothing compared to what people are going through right now in Palestine and especially in Gaza."

“We were aware of the risks of this mission,” Thunberg said, adding, “Our goal was to reach Gaza and distribute aid.” She also said that activists would continue to work to deliver aid to Gaza.

According to reports in the French press, the 5 French activists on the ship will also appear before Israeli justice.

TEL AVIV EMBASSY MET WITH 2 TURKS

In the information they gave to the press, Foreign Ministry sources said,"Our citizens on the ship named Madleen, which was detained by Israeli forces, went ashore yesterday evening (June 9)".

The names of the Turks on the ship that set off with 12 people are Yasemin Acar and Şuayb Ordu.

'ALL KINDS OF SUPPORT IS PROVIDED'

Sources reported that officials from the Turkish Embassy in Tel Aviv met with the citizens in question this morning, and added:"Our citizens are being provided with all kinds of consular support and their relatives are being informed about the process."

WHAT HAPPENED ON THE MADLEEN SHIP?

The Madleen ship, which set out to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, came to the fore with the intervention of the Israeli army in international waters. The 18-meter sailboat, organized by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, departed from the Port of Catania, Italy on June 1, 2025. P

The aid carried on the ship included: Medical supplies, baby food and diapers, feminine hygiene products, water purification kits, basic food items such as flour and rice, crutches and children's prosthetics.

ISRAEL'S RAID ON THE SHIP

On the morning of June 9, 2025, the Madleen ship was stopped by the Israeli army in international waters, approximately 185 kilometers from Gaza.

Five Israeli navy boats surrounded the ship and launched a military operation at around 03:00 at night. Before the intervention, drones sprayed the ship with a white, irritating chemical liquid and jammed its communication systems. Activist Yasemin Acar said the liquid burned the eyes and could constitute a war crime against civilians.

Israeli soldiers boarded the ship and detained 12 activists, and the ship was towed to the Port of Ashdod. The Israeli Foreign Ministry announced that the activists would be sent back to their country, while the far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir ordered that the activists be placed in separate cells in Givon Prison in Ramla.

93 PERCENT OF GAZA IS SUFFERING FAMILY

The aid was aimed at meeting the needs of 2.3 million people in Gaza who are struggling with hunger and humanitarian crisis. According to the latest Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) report, 93 percent of the population in Gaza faces serious food shortages.

CALL FROM THE HEADS OF 3 POLITICAL GROUPS IN THE EP

The heads of three political groups in the European Parliament (EP) have called on Israel to release EU citizens on the Madleen, a ship carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza that has been detained by Israel, and to lift all obstacles to the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza.

The intervention on the Madleen ship had a huge impact around the world. United Nations Special Rapporteur for Palestine, Francesca Albanese, called for the release of the ship and the lifting of the blockade of Gaza. Countries such as France, Spain and Ireland condemned Israel's intervention and demanded the release of their citizens.

Türkiye also reacted harshly. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the intervention as a"clear violation of international law" and said,"This heinous attack by the Netanyahu government has proven once again that Israel is a terrorist state." The ministry has initiated efforts to release the two Turkish citizens on the ship and is in regular contact with the families. Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc described Israel as"lawless" and "devoid of moral values."

WHY IS THE MADLEEN SHIP INCIDENT IMPORTANT?

The Madleen ship stands out as a symbolic initiative aimed at drawing attention to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and breaking the blockade.

"I am ready to give my life to deliver 100 kilos of flour to Gaza. Not speaking out against genocide is a greater risk than going on this mission," Greta Thunberg told CNN.
