GAZA, KOMPAS.com - At least 67 Palestinian citizens were reportedly killed and dozens more injured while waiting for aid distribution in Gaza, according to local hospital officials.
The director of Al Shifa Hospital said the latest deadly incident occurred in the Al Sudaniya area of northern Gaza.
Four hospitals in the area reported receiving numerous casualties. In Al Shifa alone, 45 deaths were recorded.
In recent weeks, hundreds of Palestinians have lost their lives while queuing for food and aid amid the worsening crisis.
On Saturday (19/7/2025), Israeli forces were accused of killing at least 32 people in the Teina area, Gaza Strip, quoted from Sky News on Sunday (20/7/2025).
The attack came shortly after the Israeli military issued evacuation orders for several areas in central Gaza earlier Sunday. These areas had not previously been targeted by Israeli military operations in the Gaza war against Hamas.
This evacuation order has raised concerns among families of Israeli hostages. They are worried about the fate of relatives believed to still be held in the area.
On the other hand, Pope Leo XIV issued a call to end the"barbarity of war" in his statement on Sunday.
He expressed deep sorrow over the Israeli attack on Gaza's only Catholic church on Thursday, which killed three people and injured ten others.
One of the injured was Father Gabriel Romanelli, parish priest of Holy Family Catholic Church, known for his close relationship with the late Pope Francis. Despite his injuries, Father Romanelli still attended Sunday Mass.
The attack on the church sparked international condemnation. Pope Leo XIV and US President Donald Trump both condemned the attack.
Meanwhile, the Israeli side expressed regret and called the incident an accident.
Amid the escalating situation, Israel and Hamas are reportedly holding ceasefire talks in Qatar. However, according to international mediators, there are no signs of a significant breakthrough yet.
