During Monday, Donald Trump received several EU leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj at the White House.

On Sunday, the US president wrote on Truth social that a peace agreement is now up to Zelenskyy to fix – but that he can forget about the Crimean peninsula.

“Ukrainian President Zelensky can end the war with Russia almost immediately, if he wants, or he can continue to fight. Remember how it all began. Impossible to get back Crimea that Obama gave away (12 years ago, without a shot being fired!), and NO NATO MEMBERSHIP FOR UKRAINE. Some things never change!!!” Trump wrote.

Zelenskyy: “A quick and reliable end”

Zelenskyy responded to Trump's calls via Telegram.

“We all want equally to see a quick and reliable end to this war,” he wrote there.

Zelensky also pointed out that Ukrainian troops are advancing in Sumy and Donetsk.

"Russia must end this war that they themselves started. And I hope that our joint strength with America, with our European friends, will force Russia into a real peace."

First time in the White House after the chaos

When the presidents meet at the White House, it will be the first time they have met there since the end of February.

That time, chaotic scenes unfolded during the joint press conference after the meeting. Trump, among other things, accused Zelensky of not being grateful to the United States.

Since then, the two presidents have met on two occasions in Europe. First at the Pope's Francis' funeral in April, partly at a NATO summit in June.

“Even more land”

Earlier on Sunday evening, Donald Trump also shared a Truth social post calling on Ukraine to give up territory.

“Ukraine must be prepared to lose some land to Russia, otherwise they will lose even more land the longer the war goes on,” the post said.

It was during the winter of 2014 that Russia first annexed the Crimean peninsula.
