Breaking news! Aydın Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu announced her resignation from her party, the Republican People's Party (CHP). Çerçioğlu stated,"Due to the anti-democratic practices that have been taking place, as well as my fundamental principles of honesty, service within the framework of the law, and uncompromising public morality, which I have given to the people of Aydın and my family, I no longer have the opportunity to follow the same path as the Republican People's Party."

Çerçioğlu noted the following in his statement on social media:

"As the Mayor of Aydın Metropolitan Municipality, my three mayors and I have repeatedly sought solutions to the problems we are experiencing within the Republican People's Party (CHP) from the party's authorities, but unfortunately we have not been able to reach a conclusion.

In addition to the anti-democratic practices that have been taking place, I no longer have the opportunity to follow the same path as the Republican People's Party due to my fundamental principles of honesty, service within the framework of the law, and uncompromising public morality, which I have given to the people of Aydın and my family.
