Sardinia, the fire has blocked almost all escape routes for swimmers: the Cagliari Port Authority has been mobilized for sea rescue operations and a helicopter for air rescue operations. Two Canadair aircraft are in action.

Another day of fires in Sardinia. The most serious situation is occurring at Punta Molentis, in Villasimius, with the flames reaching close to the beach.
The escape routes for bathers were almost completely blocked by the flames: for this reason, the Cagliari Port Authority and the specialists of the nautical unit were mobilized with a motorboat and divers with a dinghy, who carried out over one hundred evacuations by sea (102 by the Coast Guard patrol boat CP320 and 39 by the Guardia di Finanza patrol boat), even if the intervention was made difficult by the strong mistral wind that has been hitting southern Sardinia for a few hours. Many bathers tried to escape by reaching their cars at the Punta Molentis car park, but the over 200 vehicles are also seriously threatened by the fire and some of them have been destroyed by the fire.
Two Canadairs are operational in an attempt to contain the flames and two firefighter teams, one from the San Vito detachment and one from the seasonal headquarters in Castiadas, are working to secure the area.

Adding to the danger to people is the ecological damage, underline the environmentalists of Grig: An environmental jewel has literally gone up in smoke.
