Pensioner Tomasz Wesolowski escaped with minor injuries when a drone crashed into his house while he was watching news on television about Russian drones entering Polish airspace, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

Wesolowski was downstairs when the drone flew into the upper part of his house at 6:30 a.m., destroying the roof, damaging the bedroom and scattering debris across the garden.

"I turned on the TV and all the news was about this massive drone invasion, and a moment later I heard a plane flying over us... and suddenly something exploded, the lamp fell from the ceiling in the living room downstairs," he told Reuters in the eastern Polish village of Wiryki-Wola.

"I ran out into the yard and saw the whole roof in pieces, everything was destroyed."

Wesolowski's wife, Alicia, said she also ran outside and saw a plane overhead. She was afraid they were being bombed and someone would start shooting at her.

Neither of them was injured.

Poland said drones entered its airspace overnight while Russia was carrying out an attack on neighboring Ukraine, and that it shot down some of them.

Twelve drones and missile debris were later found at various locations, officials said.

Urszula Zapshaluk, a neighbor, also heard the roar of a plane overhead.

"Suddenly I heard something that sounded like an explosion. I jumped, my legs were shaking... I went out onto the balcony. And I saw through the trees that my neighbors' roof was gone."

Her yard was covered in debris, her house's chimney and some roof tiles were damaged, and the window of the outbuilding was broken.

"I'm just afraid of this war (on the other side of the border, in Ukraine)," she said.
