The city of Laâyoune experienced an exceptional evening of art last Thursday to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Green March. The renowned musician Amine Boudchar headlined the event, delivering a vibrant performance on a stage erected especially for the occasion in Mechouar Said Square. His performance captivated the audience in the capital of the Moroccan Sahara.

The concert, organized under the banner of celebration and national pride, took place in the presence of the wali of the Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra region, Abdeslam Bekrate, the wali of security in Laâyoune, the president of the city council, as well as several accredited consuls general, civil and military figures and representatives of civil society.

A perfect harmony with a refined audience

At the end of his performance, which featured a repertoire blending his own compositions and pieces performed with Sahrawi artists, Amine Boudchar said he was deeply moved by the audience's fervor and refinement."The Laâyoune audience, as always, demonstrated a high level of artistry and perfect harmony with the pieces presented," he told the press. The maestro also emphasized that he had long awaited this musical event in the southern capital, considering it symbolic that it coincided with the commemoration of the Green March.

In his remarks, Amine Boudchar also welcomed the UN resolution that enshrines autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty, stating that his participation in this event is part of a series of artistic initiatives aimed at promoting national culture in Morocco and abroad.

An evening for all tastes

The evening, rich and varied, offered the audience a true musical journey, blending Hassani sounds, popular rhythms, pop, rock, and Amazigh songs. This mix of styles resulted in a festive and unifying show, where all musical sensibilities found their place.

The patriotic songs performed by Amine Boudchar, in a duet with Moroccan artist Jaylann, were one of the highlights of the evening. Swept away by emotion, the audience sang along to the iconic refrains celebrating national unity and the unwavering attachment to the Moroccan Sahara.

During this period of festivities marking the anniversary of the Green March, Laâyoune is experiencing an unprecedented cultural effervescence. Mechouar Saïd Square stands out more than ever as the beating heart of the celebrations, perpetuating an artistic and civic tradition deeply rooted in the history of the Kingdom.
