Trump-Putin Summit in Budapest

Trump-Zelensky White House Meeting

Peace Negotiations and War End Prospects

Shortly after 7 p.m. Swedish time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived at the White House. Zelensky and Trump are expected to discuss, among other things, the delivery of American Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.

Tomahawk missiles have long range and can reach targets deep inside Russia – including Moscow. Donald Trump According to several American media outlets, it is understood that it wants to discuss conditions for when and how the Tomahawk missiles will be used.

Russia has repeatedly warned against giving Ukraine access to the long-range weapons. In a phone call, Vladimir Putin reportedly said that the relationship between the United States and Russia would suffer “significant damage” if Donald Trump gave in to Volodymyr Zelensky’s wishes.

Part of the White House summit is being broadcast live. When Donald Trump is asked about giving Ukraine access to long-range weapons, he replies:

– We'll talk about it. It would be an escalation, but we'll talk about it.

Donald Trump points out that Tomahawk missiles are"very dangerous weapons" that the United States also needs.

"They are incredible weapons. But I have to say one thing - we also want Tomahawks. We don't want to give away things that we ourselves need to protect our country," he says.

“Very bad blood”

A few days ago, Donald Trump announced that he and Vladimir Putin will meet again, this time in Budapest. No date has been set for that meeting, but according to the Kremlin, it will take place within two weeks.

Now Trump reveals a little more about the meeting:

"It will be a kind of double meeting. We will have presidential contact with President Zelensky. There is a lot of bad blood between the two presidents, and I am not saying anything inappropriate when I mention it," he says.

Perhaps, says Donald Trump, it is the threat of Tomahawk missiles that makes Vladimir Putin want to meet again.

The proposal: Drones against Tomahwk missiles

Volodymyr Zelenskyj praises Donald Trump for his efforts for peace in Gaza.

“President Trump has a great chance to end this war,” Zelenskyy said.

The Ukrainian president also says that he has met with representatives of major American energy companies and that they are ready to help Ukraine win the war.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy also makes a proposal. He says the US could get thousands of Ukrainian drones in exchange for Tomahawk missiles. Donald Trump is not closing the door on that.

– We build our own drones, but we also buy drones from others, and they build good drones, says Donald Trump.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasizes that Ukraine needs long-range weapons.

"The most important thing for the people of Ukraine, who are under attack every day, is to have really strong security guarantees. NATO is the best, but weapons are very important. Allies on our side are very important," Zelensky said.

– We want peace, Putin doesn't want it. That's why we need pressure on him.

Ukraine may be forced to give up land

At the end of September, Donald Trump said that Ukraine could win back lost territory. Now it sounds different. The American president does not rule out that Ukraine may have to give up occupied land to end the war.

– You never know. War is very interesting. You never know. You never know with war, war and peace, says Trump.
