In a conversation with journalists in Tel Aviv, the mother of Ariel and David Cunio, two of the three Argentinians released this Monday by Hamas, recounted what the video call that the terrorist group allowed her to have with her sons was like shortly before they were released.
That was the first contact between them after two years of being held captive.
"I'm bursting with joy. I didn't sleep all night. I couldn't sleep waiting for this moment. And it hasn't arrived yet, but I already saw them. They called me, their mother. You understand? They called me," Silvia told a journalist from Fuente Latina who interviewed her by phone.
"At first, I didn't want to; I rejected the video call because I didn't know who it was. Then they called me back, and I answered. Suddenly, I see them and the kids all here, screaming. My children, my husband, his girlfriend, David's wife," explained the woman, speaking in Spanish with a strong Argentine accent.

What did they tell you about the boys? What condition are they in? What did the children say?
- I saw them fine, but I didn't see all of them physically, but they said they were fine. I didn't see them walking, but they were standing and talking to me. And talking to everyone.

The brothers Ariel and David Cunio, and Eitan Horn, were the Argentines released this Monday by Hamas as part of the first phase of a ceasefire plan agreed upon with Israel. It was promoted by President Donald Trump, who spoke before the Israeli parliament, following the speech by his ally Benjamin Netanyahu.
The Cunios were kidnapped on October 7, 2023. They hid as long as they could in a safe room in their home in the Nir Oz kibbutz. The terrorists set fire to the house to force them out and took them away.
