Jerusalem. Israel warned Thursday that it"cannot allow" Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei to continue to exist, after a barrage of missiles hit a hospital, while his military continued bombing nuclear facilities in Iran.

On the seventh day of the unprecedented conflict between the two great Middle Eastern rivals, US President Donald Trump, an ally of Israel, did not rule out military action to disrupt Tehran's nuclear program, which it has accused, despite its denials, of trying to develop atomic weapons.

Following a particularly violent attack involving dozens of Iranian missiles, several regions of Israel were put on alert, where residents took refuge in shelters.

Soroka Hospital in Beersheba, southern Israel, was hit by an Iranian attack that caused"significant damage," the health center said, adding that 40 people were injured.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry reported a"direct impact" on this medical center, which primarily treats Israeli soldiers wounded in the war in Gaza.

Following the attack, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) called on Thursday for"respect" and "protection" of hospitals in the name of international law.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz declared shortly afterward that a man like Iran's supreme leader"can no longer be allowed" to exist.
