Ukraine's Difficult Position and Pressure

Russian Perspective and Support

European leaders and non-European countries friendly to Ukraine criticized US"peace plan" Their joint statement publishes Press Service of the Council of the European Union.

Thus, Ukraine's partners welcomed the"continued US efforts to ensure peace in Ukraine." They recognized that the 28-point plan contains "important elements" necessary for establishing a just and lasting peace. Therefore, the document, in their opinion, can serve as a basis for further discussions. But at the same time, they see a number of problems in the proposed agreement.

"We clearly adhere to the principle that borders cannot be changed by force. We are also concerned about the proposed restrictions on the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which would leave Ukraine vulnerable to future aggression," the statement said.

The leaders who signed the statement also emphasized that the points of the plan that concern the European Union and NATO will require separate consent from the member states of these organizations for their implementation.

The application was approved by:

  • President of the European Council Antonio Costa,
  • President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen,
  • Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney,
  • President of Finland Alexander Stubb,
  • French President Emmanuel Macron,
  • German Chancellor Friedrich Merz,
  • Irish Prime Minister Micheal Martin,
  • Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni,
  • Prime Minister of Japan Sanae Takaichi,
  • Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof,
  • Prime Minister of Norway Jonas Gahr Støre,
  • Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez,
  • British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
