Donald Trump, during a cabinet meeting at the White House, declared that we have ended the war in Gaza. At the same time, he expressed his belief that this peace will last.
He also touched on the hostage issue. As the US president explained, the hostages will be released on Monday or Tuesday. He also confirmed that he intends to travel to the Middle East, adding that there will be a signing ceremony for the agreement in Egypt.
"No one believed it could be done, but we did it," he said, thanking the negotiators from Qatar, Egypt and Turkey for their contribution to this incredible day.
Donald Trump also said that Gaza will be rebuilt, emphasizing that this agreement marks a new beginning for the region.
Among other things, the US president described the death toll of nearly 70,000 in Gaza as a major retaliation for the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, in which approximately 1,200 Israelis were killed.
It is truly peace in the Middle East, Trump concluded, emphasizing that this agreement paves the way for a new chapter of stability and cooperation.
The attack on Iran was crucial for the Gaza deal
Donald Trump said the attack on Iran was an important factor in reaching the Gaza ceasefire agreement. He added that Iran wants to work for peace and that the United States will work with Tehran in efforts for stability in the Middle East.
