Thousands demonstrated in the streets of Tel Aviv to demand an end to the war in the Gaza Strip, the day after the security cabinet approved a plan to take control of Gaza City.

Protesters waved banners and held up pictures of hostages held in the Strip since the October 7, 2023 attack.

The demonstrators demanded that Benjamin Netanyahu's government work to release the hostages.

An Israeli official said he does not rule out a return to negotiations regarding the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip.

Israel's Channel 12 quoted an official source as saying,"We do not rule out a return to negotiations on a partial agreement within the framework of (US envoy Steve) Witkoff's draft."

The Israeli source added that "the main efforts are now being made by mediators," noting that officials are already receiving "signals from the mediators that Hamas can be brought back to the negotiating table."

It is worth noting that the Israeli Security Cabinet approved on Friday the implementation of large-scale operations to control Gaza, which sparked a wave of anger around the world.
