"I WANT TO GO TO MY MOTHER"
Defendant A.Ö. said,"Uncle Hakim, I want to go home to my parents. I want to sleep with them. I'm not guilty. I'm not guilty. I'm very regretful that I was at the scene. I want to go home to my parents," repeating the same words over and over. The other defendant, M.A.D., also denied the accusations and requested his acquittal. The court then adjourned the hearing for an hour and a half.
The hearing was adjourned until 13.30.
After a recess, the court announced its verdict. The court sentenced defendants U.B. and B.B., both under 18, to aggravated life imprisonment for"premeditated murder of a child." Because the legal condition was not met, they were sentenced to the maximum sentence of 24 years. No reduction was applied because no remorse was shown.
The other defendants, M.A.D. and A.Ö., were acquitted of the charge of"aiding and abetting the crime of premeditated murder of a child." They were also released.
Following the decision, the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office took action and appealed the decision of the Istanbul Anatolian 2nd Juvenile High Criminal Court.
