Breaking news... President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made statements after the NATO Heads of State and Government Summit held in The Hague, Netherlands. Stating that they welcomed the ceasefire between Israel and Iran, President Erdoğan said,"The solution to the problem between Iran and Israel is possible through diplomacy and negotiation. Iran and Israel must abide by the ceasefire unconditionally."

Highlights from President Erdoğan's speech:

"TURKISH DEFENSE INDUSTRY IS BEING POINTED WITH A FINGER"

We are an ally directly affected by many crises in our region. We strive to keep our country away from all these crises and hot conflicts. We attach great importance to strengthening our defense. The great breakthrough made by the Turkish defense industry is admired in the world. We have a say on a global scale in many areas. Our defense spending is currently above the 2 percent target of previous summits. We are among the countries closest to reaching 5 percent, thanks to the resources we allocate to innovation and our international efforts.

It is not possible to expand the effectiveness of the alliance by simply increasing defense spending. In this context, we first prioritized reflecting the removal of trade barriers between the allies for defense industry products in the alliance documents.

We hope that this comprehensive approach will prevail throughout the continent. The approach of the NATO Secretary General is extremely valuable in this respect.

We are among the allies who have highlighted the alliance's fight against terrorism. This time, we emphasized in The Hague that the fight against terrorism can only be achieved through sincere solidarity among allies. We ensured that this threat was reflected in the summit declaration. Terrorism is NATO's fundamental threat.

"THE RUSSIA-UKRAINE WAR MUST END"

The destruction and loss of life in Ukraine and Russia is increasing. We continue our intensive efforts to end the war with a just peace. We have started mediation in Istanbul. The Russia-Ukraine war must end. I maintain my hope that the war will end as soon as possible. A just peace has no losers.

"THE HUMANITARIAN TRAGEDY IN GAZA HAS TURNED INTO A HUMANITARIAN DISASTER"

To date, 56,000 Gazans have lost their lives in Israeli attacks. 129,000 Gazans have been injured. 80 percent of Gaza has been destroyed. 95 percent of the health infrastructure has been destroyed. Churches, mosques, schools and hospitals have been bombed. Over 2 million of our Gazan brothers and sisters are struggling to survive in very difficult conditions amidst the rubble. Due to Israel’s obstruction and attacks, the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza has turned into a humanitarian disaster. We see that the relevant institutions of the international community are inadequate in stopping Israel. Israel, which openly violates international law, adds new ones to its violations every day. Israel cannot ensure the security of its own people by destabilizing the region. Israel’s security also depends on the peace and well-being of its neighbors.

IRAN-ISRAEL WAR

The solution to the problem between Iran and Israel is possible through diplomacy and negotiation. We welcome the ceasefire. The tension between Israel and Iran has increased the risks in our region. Iran and Israel must abide by the ceasefire unconditionally.

ANSWER TO THE QUESTION OF THE ISRAELI JOURNALIST

If relations between Israel and Turkey continue in this way, it is not possible to establish peace between us. Israel's steps threaten peace. Over 100 thousand people are dead and injured... They still continue to strike. Food is not being sent to innocent people in Gaza. Israel is the one preventing this. How can we provide a peaceful environment with such a barbaric step? It is not possible. We call on Israel to abandon its stance in Gaza.

EUROFIGHTER SALE

We have held and continue to hold talks with both England and Germany regarding the Eurofighter, and there are positive developments in this regard.

We discussed the F-35 issue. We paid 1 billion 300-400 million dollars for the F-35 and we saw that Mr. Trump also had good intentions in purchasing the F-35s.

"In my country, we are all one, Turks and Kurds, and it is my duty to protect the integrity of my country. We will continue this in the best way."
