President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that he had a telephone conversation with the President of the United States of America Donald Trump.

"A productive conversation with President Trump. The key thing is, of course, ending the war. We are grateful to the US President for all his efforts for a fair and lasting peace. It is really necessary to stop the killings as soon as possible, we fully support this. There could have been no war for many months if the Russians had not dragged it out," Zelensky stressed in Telegram.

He also reported that the discussion was about defense cooperation between the two countries.

"The draft agreement on drones has already been prepared by the Ukrainian side, we are ready to discuss it in detail and conclude it. It could be one of the strongest agreements. Thank you to every American heart that supports our defense of lives. Thank you, President Trump!" the head of state wrote.

According to him, during the conversation with the American leader, the positions of Ukraine and the United States were coordinated. The point was that the Russians had increased the severity of their attacks on Ukrainian cities.

"President Trump is fully informed about Russian strikes on Kyiv, our other cities and communities," Zelensky added.

In addition, the parties talked about anti-Russian sanctions.

"Their economy continues to fall, and that is why Moscow is so mindful of this perspective and President Trump's determination. This could change a lot," the Ukrainian president said.

During the conversation, Trump and Zelensky also touched on the issue of joint European decisions that could help protect Ukraine. In particular, there are such decisions from the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and Denmark. We are talking about more than a billion dollars in American weapons that Ukraine will receive.

Aid to Ukraine from other countries

Yesterday, August 4, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the Netherlands is providing Ukraine with a €500 million aid package. He noted that the funds will be used to purchase American weapons, in particular, missiles for Patriot.

On August 5, Zelenskyy announced that over 500 million dollars allocated by Sweden, Norway and Denmark for the purchase of American weapons for Ukraine. This will be implemented in coordination with NATO through the Prioritised Ukraine Requirement List.

According to him, such steps are a new real basis for Europe's security in the long term. He noted that Russia will never turn Europe into a continent of war.
