The US president's son, Donald Trump Jr., has left open the possibility that the United States will stop helping Ukraine in its war with Russia.

Speaking at a conference in Doha, Trump Jr. said that the corrupt rich Ukrainians had fled their country, leaving what they saw as the peasant class to fight.

Trump Jr. has no official role in the Trump administration, but is a key figure in the MAGA movement. As the Guardian reports, his intervention reflects the antipathy of some members of the Trump team towards the Ukrainian government and comes at a time when the American negotiating team is putting pressure on Kiev to cede territory.

Trump Jr. also said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is prolonging the war because he knows he will never win the election if it ends. He then claimed that Ukraine is a far more corrupt country than Russia.

Furthermore, he claimed, without providing evidence, that he had noticed this summer, on a single day in Monaco, that 50% of sports cars, such as Bugatti and Ferrari, had Ukrainian license plates. Do you think these were won in Ukraine?, he wondered.

We hear all the rumors about what happens when we see that all the signs in Monaco are Ukrainian […] the rich left and left what they considered the peasant class to fight. There was no incentive for them to stop, because as long as the money was coming in and they were stealing, no one was controlling anything, so there was no reason to make peace, he said.

At the same time, he also criticized the head of the EU's foreign policy, Kaia Kallas , saying that European sanctions have no effect, as they have simply increased the price of oil, a development thanks to which Russia can finance the war. He described the European plan as waiting for Russia to go bankrupt, then stressed that this is not a plan.
