Reasons for Meeting Difficulties

The warning came from Andrei Bezrukov, a colonel of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) and a former secret agent who operated for years in the United States, Express.co.uk writes.

Bezrukov made a direct appeal to the Russian president:"Don't go to Budapest."

He called for the expected meeting with Trump to be urgently moved to Dubai in order to avoid what he claims is an "absolutely treacherous operation" being prepared by the British.

"I have very, very serious concerns about Budapest," said Bezrukov, whose secret identity was exposed in 2010 when FBI took Russian spy Anna Chapman into custody.

Both were part of a major spy exchange in the same year, which included the exchange of ten Russian agents for four people serving time in Russia for espionage for the West.

Why the British?

"The whole mentality of the British is structured in such a way that if Putin does not exist, then there is no problem and Russia will fall apart," Bezrukov said in a guest appearance on Russian state television.

He added that the ruling class in London"understands that Britain could soon cease to exist".

"After all, the elite within it, which was a very, very organized gang, is now losing its power, not because it is doing badly, but because the country itself is changing drastically, melting. And for them, a blow to us, including an absolutely treacherous operation that could be carried out on the basis of this meeting in Budapest, is a decision. And they will do it. They will risk everything, because now they are risking everything. And that's why I would strongly advise Putin not to go to Budapest," Bezrukov pointed out.

The leading television propagandist Kremlin, Vladimir Solovyov, asked him how to avoid the risk of assassination.

"There is a beautiful country called the United Arab Emirates, which could host the Trump-Putin talks," Bezrukov replied.

Solovyov then remarked that Putinis"so brave" that he will probably still take the risk of traveling to Budapest.

"Sometimes it's not good... Commander-in-Chief Putin  represents the country, and here the interests of the country are more important than the courage of one person," concluded Bezrukov.

Who is Andrei Bezrukov?

Andrei Bezrukov (65) is a former spy of the KGB and SVR who worked for decades as a"sleeper" in the USA under the pseudonym Donald Howard Heathfield, together with his wife and fellow agent Yelena Vavilova, known as Tracy Ann Foley.

The couple raised two sons, Timothy and Alexander, who had no idea that their parents were spies. Today, Bezrukov is a professor at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) and an adviser to the state-owned oil giant Rosneft.
