Over a hundred thousand demonstrators marched through central London on Saturday with English and British flags in a protest against immigration.
The protest was organized by anti-immigration and anti-Islam activist Tommy Robinson, writes Reuters.
London police estimate that the Unite the Kingdom demonstration gathered approximately 110,000 people, reports The Telegraph.
They also estimate that approximately 5,000 people participated in a Stand Up To Racism counter-demonstration.
Unite the Kingdom protesters carried the British Union Flag and the red and white St. George's Cross of England, while others carried American and Israeli flags and the Maga hats of US President Donald Trump.
They shouted slogans critical of Prime Minister Keir Starmer and carried posters with the text send them home.
By noon, tens of thousands of protesters had gathered in the streets south of the Thames, before heading towards Westminster.
Tommy Robinson, the organizer behind the demonstration, is actually Stephen Yaxley-Lennon. He describes himself as a journalist who exposes state wrongdoing, but has several criminal convictions.
Britain's largest anti-immigration political party, Reform UK, which has topped the polls in recent months, has distanced itself from Robinson, partly because of the convictions.
The Metropolitan Police had more than 1,600 officers deployed across London on Saturday, including 500 brought in from other forces.
The demonstrations come after a very heated summer in Britain with protests against immigration and freedom of speech.
Immigration has become the dominant political issue in Britain, overshadowing concerns about a faltering economy. The country has seen a record number of asylum applications, with more than 28,000 migrants arriving in small boats across the Channel so far this year.
