Israel’s Defense minister Israel Katz said the attack against Hamas leadership in Qatar’s Doha showed that his country will target enemies wherever they are.
“Israel’s long arm will act against its enemies anywhere. There is no place where they can hide,” Katz said on X.
Katz added: “Anyone who participated in the October 7 massacre will be held fully accountable. Anyone who carries out terror against Israel will be struck.”
The defense minister’s comments came as Israel’s UN envoy on Wednesday defended targeting Hamas leaders in Qatari capital Doha as the “right” decision, after the strikes on US ally’s soil drew a rare rebuke from President Donald Trump.
Israel’s strike targeted Hamas’ political leadership who had gathered in Doha to discuss a US proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. Tuesday’s attack killed at least six people in the neighborhood that is home to foreign embassies and schools.
Meanwhile, Israel’s ambassador to the United States Yechiel Leiter, shrugged off the criticism levelled at his country following the strikes on Doha as he told Fox News: “Right now we may be subject to a little bit of criticism. They’ll get over it.”
In response to a question whether Israel was successful in targeting the Palestinian group’s leaders, Leiter responded: “If we didn’t get them this time, we will get them the next time.”
