The FBI released two photographs Thursday of the suspect in the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, which occurred Wednesday on a Utah college campus. They show a white man wearing dark pants, a sweatshirt, and a cap, and sunglasses.

We are seeking the public's help in identifying this person of interest in connection with the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University, according to text accompanying the images, captured from what appears to be security video and posted by the X account of the FBI's office in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The sweatshirt the man is wearing appears to have an image of an American flag with a bald eagle superimposed on it.

Kirk, known for hosting discussion forums at U.S. schools, died Wednesday after being shot in the neck while speaking at an event hosted by Utah Valley University (UVU) in Orem.

The joint team investigating the case, comprised of the FBI and the Utah Department of Public Safety, has launched what they describe as a manhunt to find the man in the images.

Investigators said in a press conference that they have recovered what they believe to be the weapon used to kill Kirk, a high-powered bolt-action rifle, in a wooded area near the UVU campus.

The New York Post has published a photo it claims to have obtained from the investigation, showing a hunting rifle equipped with a telescopic sight.

The investigation team also explained that the shooter fired from the roof of a campus building located about 180 meters from the stage where Kirk was standing when he was shot.

A video shared on social media taken from behind the area where Kirk was located shows a silhouette moving quickly across a nearby rooftop seconds after the shot was fired.
