Kremlin aide Vladimir Putin Yuri Ushakov said that the Russian leader had a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump on Thursday, July 3.

According to Ushakov, the conversation between Putin and Trump lasted almost an hour.
He added that the Kremlin leader, in a conversation with Trump, emphasized Russia's readiness to continue the negotiation process with Ukraine.
Ushakov also noted that Trump, in a conversation with Putin, again raised the issue of the earliest possible end to military operations in Ukraine.
Putin's aide added that the talks in Istanbul will remain bilateral between Russia and Ukraine, but specific dates for the third round of talks in the Turkish city were not discussed.
Ushakov also said that Putin told Trump that Russia would not back down from its goals of eliminating the causes of the conflict in Ukraine.
In addition, he reported that the topic of stopping US arms supplies to Ukraine was not raised.
This was the sixth conversation between Putin and Trump since the latter was elected to the position of head of the White House.
