The news, based on two unnamed US officials who spoke to the Washington Post, shared details about the phone conversation Trump had with Zelensky after his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska.

The report stated that Trump abandoned the ceasefire condition he had previously put forward for the peace agreement and instead preferred a direct peace agreement.

The same report claimed that Trump, in a phone call with Zelenskiy, asked him to"leave all of Donbas to Russia," in addition to the areas currently under Russian control, and promised to end the war in return.

PHONE TRAFFIC AFTER THE CALL

Following his meeting with Putin in Alaska on August 15, US President Trump held phone calls with Zelenskyy and European leaders. Zelenskyy commented on these meetings in a post on his Telegram account.

Zelenskyy stated that every leader he met with had a clear stance on ending the war, saying,"A lasting and real peace must be achieved."

Underlining the need to ensure long-term security for Ukraine with the support of the US and Europe, Zelenskiy said,"All issues important to Ukraine should be discussed with Ukraine's participation. No issue, including regional issues, can be resolved without Ukraine."

The Kremlin statement noted that representatives of the Russian presidency, government officials, and the State Duma, the lower house of parliament, attended the meeting. Speaking at the beginning of the meeting, Putin provided a briefing on his meeting with Trump, emphasizing the timeliness and usefulness of the Alaska visit.

"We discussed almost all areas of our interaction, but primarily discussed a possible and just solution to the Ukrainian crisis. We also had the opportunity to talk about the roots and causes of the crisis. Eliminating the root causes should form the basis of the solution," Putin said.

Pointing out that direct negotiations have not been held at this level for a long time, Putin said:

"We had the opportunity to reiterate our approach calmly and in detail. Of course, we respect the approach of the American administration, which is that the conflict needs to end quickly. That's what we want, and we want to move towards a peaceful resolution of all issues. The meeting was very open and comprehensive, and I think it's moving us closer to the necessary decisions."

Putin and Trump met yesterday at Elmendorf-Richardson Air Base in Anchorage, Alaska. The two leaders held a joint press conference following a nearly three-hour meeting.

In the statement made by the Ministry, updated information was shared about the activities of the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine.

"As a result of their determined and active actions, units of the Western and Eastern military groups liberated the settlements of Voronoye in the Dnipropetrovsk region and Kolodezi in the Donetsk People's Republic," the statement said, noting that Russian forces are advancing on the front in Ukraine.

The statement also stated that 169 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were shot down by Russian air defense systems in the last 24 hours.
