Suhail al-Hindi, a member of Hamas's political bureau, announced that the Israeli bombing of the negotiating team's meeting place in the Qatari capital, Doha, resulted in the deaths of a number of members of the delegation's entourage, including Jihad Labad and Humam Khalil al-Hayya, son of Khalil al-Hayya, head of the movement's political bureau.

In statements to Al Jazeera, Al-Hindi confirmed that the movement's leadership survived the cowardly assassination attempt, noting that the bombing targeted the meeting place where the negotiating team was meeting while discussing the latest US proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza and a prisoner exchange deal.

In contrast, the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth quoted Israeli military estimates that the bombing targeting Hamas's top leadership in Qatar was a major success.

The Israeli occupation army officially announced the targeting of Khalil al-Hayya and a number of his companions, while the final results of the strike remain disputed by both sides.
