"From what I hear, this isn't the official version. We're waiting for the report. It flew in from Ukrainian territory, which is interesting because Ukrainians are the best prepared of all countries to fight drones. They have very good technology for it," the deputy foreign minister said on TV Republika.

Władysław Teofil Bartoszewski added that Kyiv has equipment that Poland does not yet have."But right now there is a new project Barbara, which is intended to create certain barriers. (...) The war broke out in 2022 and the previous government did not particularly concern itself with drones," the PSL politician commented.

Barbara System: Poland Builds a Barrier Against Drones

The Barbara project mentioned by the deputy minister involves the purchase of radio engineering aerostats. The relevant agreement was signed by the Ministry of National Defense in May 2024. The first aerostat is to be delivered to the Polish Army by the end of 2026.

The Barbara system provides radar reconnaissance and complements the existing Air Defense System and Coastal Surveillance System. It has the ability to detect targets such as missiles, aircraft, drones, and surface vessels.

In recent days, questions have arisen in the public space about the safety of Polish skies, following the crash of a drone on the night from Tuesday to Wednesday.

"We are dealing with a provocation by the Russian Federation, with a Russian drone. We are dealing with this at a crucial moment, when discussions about peace are underway, when there is hope that this war (...) has a chance to end. Russia is provoking us once again," said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.

The drone crashed in Osiny, Lublin. The 8th Military Department of the District Prosecutor's Office in Lublin is investigating the case. As Grzegorz Trusiewicz, head of the Lublin prosecutor's office, reported last week, the largest surviving element of the drone bore an inscription"probably in Korean."
