Trump Administration Policy Positions

Italy will not send troops to Ukraine to monitor compliance with a possible peace agreement with Russia, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni told the"Coalition of the Willing" today, ANSA reported, quoted by BTA.

A statement from Meloni's office specified that she had confirmed"the proposal for a collective security and defense mechanism, inspired by Article 5 of the Washington Treaty (which established NATO - ed. note), as a key element of the political component of Ukraine's security guarantees."

Meloni stressed that Italy will not send troops to Ukraine, but is ready to support a possible ceasefire through monitoring and training initiatives outside Ukrainian territory.
