The First Chamber of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) resumes this Tuesday, 9th, the trial of the criminal action against former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and seven other defendants for attempted coup d'état after the 2022 elections.

On this third day of reviewing the case, the justices begin reading their votes. The reporting justice, Alexandre de Moraes, analyzed the preliminary points raised by the defendants' attorneys and will now read his vote on the merits of the case. The session will adjourn for lunch, and the trial will resume in the afternoon at 2 p.m. in a regular session.

In total, eight sessions were scheduled, but on the afternoon of last Friday, the 5th, Moraes requested additional sessions from Justice Cristiano Zanin, president of the First Chamber, who granted the request. This Thursday, the 11th, there will also be morning and afternoon sessions. The result of the trial is expected to be announced on Friday, the 12th.

Bolsonaro and the other defendants are charged with armed criminal organization, coup d'état, attempted violent abolition of the rule of law, damage to listed heritage, and serious damage to federal property. The Attorney General's Office (PGR) has requested the former president's conviction for all listed crimes, which, combined, could exceed 40 years in prison. The sentencing will be determined by the justices if convicted.
