247 - More than 50 buses were used as barricades in Rio de Janeiro, during the Military Police's Containment Operation, carried out since dawn this Tuesday (28) in the Alemão and Penha complexes, north of the city, reported Agência Brasil, citing Rio Ônibus, the city's bus companies union.

MobiRio, the public company that manages the BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) bus lanes, reported that the police operation caused the interruption of some services for security reasons. The lines affected this afternoon are: 31 - Alvorada x V. Carvalho; 35 - Madureira x Alvorada; 40 - Madureira x Alvorada; 41 - Madureira x T. Recreio; 42 - Galeão x Manaceia; 43 - S. The Rio de Janeiro Operations Center (COR-Rio) reinforced recommendations for pedestrian and driver safety in the city:

Avoid traveling in areas impacted by police incidents; Stay in a safe place; Stay informed through the media and official channels of the COR.

Governor Cláudio Castro (PL) stated this Tuesday that the fight against organized crime and drug trafficking in Rio de Janeiro has already exceeded the state's capacity.

At least 64 people were killed Tuesday during a police operation against organized crime in two favela complexes in Rio de Janeiro's northern zone, Castro said, in the deadliest police action in the state's history.

The operation in the Alemão and Penha favela complexes is considered by the Rio government to be the largest ever carried out against organized crime. The target was Comando Vermelho, a criminal faction operating in the region. Police arrested more than 100 people and seized 75 rifles, Castro added. (With agencies).
