Russian President Vladimir Putin has dismissed as complete nonsense accusations that Russia is considering attacking a European Union (EU) country in the future."This is complete nonsense," Putin said at the start of the meeting in Beijing, and assured that such accusations are either a provocation or a reflection of political incompetence.
The meeting was also attended by Slovak President Robert Fico. He is the only EU leader to attend the meeting in the Chinese capital.

Fico asked Putin to convey his message to European leaders before the meeting he will hold on Friday with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky.
"Can I convey your message to my colleagues in the European Union?" the Slovak leader asked the Russian president during the meeting in Beijing. It is part of the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.
These statements were made two days after the plane carrying European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to Bulgaria had to land without using electronic systems because they were neutralized and paper maps had to be used due to alleged interference, which, according to information from the Financial Times and confirmed by the Spanish media 20minutos, came from the Kremlin services. Bulgarian authorities warned of this risk and decided to resort to traditional methods for landing.
