US Vice President's visit to Gaza Strip canceled

Monday, October 20

The Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported that US Vice President J.D. Vance's visit to the Gaza Strip has been cancelled due to security reasons.

The Israeli Channel Kan reported that US Vice President J.D. Vance had intended to visit the Gaza Strip during his expected arrival in Israel, but it was later decided that he would monitor events in the Gaza Strip remotely via special screens.

The Hebrew channel indicated that J.D. Vance's visit will continue until next Thursday.

It is noteworthy that last week, US President Donald Trump's envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, toured the Gaza Strip.

Both Witkoff and Kushner arrived in Israel on Monday evening, amid the recent escalation and as part of US efforts to maintain the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.

Vice President J.D. Vance is scheduled to arrive in Tel Aviv on Tuesday, according to US officials and the Israel Airports Authority, which confirmed that preparations are underway to receive him, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The US moves aim to enhance coordination between Washington and Tel Aviv, ensure the stability of the ceasefire, and prevent Hamas from rearming or undermining ongoing reconstruction efforts.
