Jerusalem. The Israeli government approved this Thursday in an extraordinary session the agreement with the Palestinian movement Hamas for the release of all the hostages held in the Gaza Strip, with which the ceasefire will come into effect, as established in the plan of the American president, Donald Trump.
"The government has authorized the agreement for the release of all hostages, both living and deceased," stated the official statement from the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The Israeli army will now withdraw to a smaller area of Gaza, and the 72-hour deadline for the release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners will begin.
According to Israeli media, Itamar Ben-Gvir, a hardline national security minister who opposes the release of Palestinian prisoners, and Bezalel Smotrich, a far-right finance minister, voted against the agreement.
The Israeli Supreme Court is expected to hear petitions against the release of Palestinian prisoners within 24 hours of the deal's approval, but is widely expected not to intervene, The Guardian reported.
