Russian Response to Trump's Peace Initiatives

Ukrainian Domestic Military Administration

After being showered with praise for bringing peace to the Middle East during a jubilant visit to Israel on Monday, Trump flew to Sharm el-Sheikh where world leaders seized the moment to support the American president in his bid to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, the British paper continues.

Trump is expected to meet with Ukrainian President  Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House on Friday, when they will discuss how the Tomahawk missile could bring Vladimir Putin to the negotiating table.

"The main topics will be air defense and our long-range capabilities, in order to maintain pressure on Russia," the Ukrainian leader said.

Trump threatened Putin

Trump has already threatened to deliver"tomahawks" to Kiev if Putin continues to stifle any hope of peace talks, and it is recalled that Washington has recently increased the exchange of intelligence with Ukrainian forces to help them in their long-range attacks on Russian energy targets.

In a speech to the Israeli parliament, Trump said he would now focus his efforts on brokering an agreement to end the war between Ukraine and Russia.

"It would be great if we could reach a peace deal with [Iran]... First, we have to finish with Russia," he told the Knesset."Let's focus on Russia first."

Although,"Telegraf" reminds us, Trump again repeated that he had ended eight conflicts in the eight months of his new mandate, the agreement to end the three-and-a-half-year struggle between Ukraine and Russia eluded him.

On the other hand, Zelensky saw a glimmer of hope in the achievement of a peace agreement in Gaza."We are working to make the day of peace come for Ukraine as well. Russian aggression remains the last global source of destabilization, and if a ceasefire and peace in the Middle East are achieved, the leadership and determination of global actors can certainly work for us as well," the Ukrainian president wrote on social networks.

With speculation growing that Trump might deliver"tomahawks" to Ukraine, Zelensky is expected to present him with a long list of Russian military targets that could be hit by the missiles.

Kiev hopes the long-range weapon can disrupt Moscow's ability to wage war by cutting off logistics routes and destroying missile and drone factories.

"Tomahawks" have a range of about 2,400 kilometers, which would put such targets comfortably within range.

Zelensky previously claimed that the missile would pressure Putin to come to the negotiating table to discuss a ceasefire.

"New aggression"

The delivery of the "tomahawk" would mark a major escalation of American support and a hardening of Trump's attitude towards Putin, and Trump himself said that sending a missile to Kiev would mean"new aggression".

It is also recalled that Trump's predecessor, Joe Biden, rejected all requests from Ukraine to obtain  "Tomohawk" missiles.

"I might say, if this war doesn't get resolved, I'm going to send them 'tomahawks,'" Trump said Sunday on a flight to Israel, then continued:"I might have to talk to Russia, to be honest with you, about 'tomahawks.' Do they want 'tomahawks' going their way."

Speaking further about the Russian president, Trump said:"Maybe I'll tell him that if the war doesn't go away, we could very easily do it."

Moscow, on the other hand, warned the White House not to deliver Tomahawk missiles, as such a move would effectively sever relations with Washington.

On Sunday, Dmitry Peskov, a Kremlin spokesman, said the missiles were"extremely worrying" for Russia, adding that"tensions are escalating from all sides".
