Weapons supply to Ukraine

During a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at the White House, Trump said that Ukraine will send 17 anti-aircraft missile systems Patriot. He specified that it will be a complete set with batteries, and the first systems will arrive very soon.

In addition, Trump hinted that not only Patriot air defense systems would be transferred to Ukraine.

"Ukraine will be able to get its hands on a truly enormous amount of military equipment, both for air defense and missiles, ammunition, and so on, and so on, and so on," the US president said.

Trump also announced that an agreement had been reached with the European Union to supply weapons to Ukraine. He specified that the costs would fall on Europe.

Secondary sanctions and tariffs against Russia

In addition, Trump stated that is going to introduce 100 percent tariffs against Russia if there is no ceasefire agreement against Ukraine within 50 days. He also threatened to impose secondary sanctions on other countries that buy Russian oil.

"Hopefully we won't have to do that," Trump added.

Disappointment with Putin

In addition, Trump explained why he has changed his attitude towards Russia and Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin now. He said that he is fed up with the fact that the Russian dictator trying to trick him .

"I often talk to Putin about the war being over. And I always hang up and say, 'Well, that was a nice phone call.' And then they launch missiles at Kyiv. And I say, 'Strange.' And after it happens three or four times, you say, 'Talk doesn't mean anything.' He fooled a lot of people. He fooled Clinton, Bush, Obama, Biden. But not me. What I'm saying is that at some point the talk has to end and there has to be action," the US president shared.

According to Trump, Russia has"huge potential" for trade with the United States. However, it is using it for war against Ukraine.

"I think from Putin's perspective, it wouldn't be a very good idea to have a ruined economy. He has to save his economy. In a sense, he can save his country. But the Russian economy could collapse. Potentially, it's a great country. But look what happened to its economy. And '50 days' is a threat. It's going to hit very hard," Trump said.

The US president stressed that he was disappointed in the Russian president. He noted that he thought he would be able to agree on a ceasefire with the Kremlin leader.

Strikes on Ukrainian cities

Also during a meeting with the NATO Secretary General, Trump said that the Ukrainians have shown great courage in fighting against Russia. He noted that at the same time, Russia is launching hundreds of drones and missiles every day, attacking Ukrainian cities.

"They're just sowing panic, striking cities. It's really terrible. And that means a lot of people are dying, and infrastructure is being destroyed, the whole city," the US president added.

How NATO will pay for and quickly transfer weapons to Ukraine

At a joint press conference, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte thanked US President Donald Trump for his support for Ukraine. He said, how the Alliance will pay and will quickly transfer weapons to Ukraine.

Rutte noted that European countries will pay for the shipment of weapons to Ukraine. He believes this is absolutely logical.

"Germany, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, as well as Canada, they all want to be part of this. And this is just the first wave. There will be others. We know what the Ukrainians need. We will work through NATO systems to transfer weapons packages to them. The countries will quickly transfer the weapons to Ukraine, and then the US will send them. Because speed is crucial here," Rutte shared.
