JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President Prabowo Subianto will attend the Gaza Peace Summit held in Egypt on Monday (13/10/2025).

Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi said that Prabowo would attend the summit because he received a special invitation.

"This evening, the President told us all that he received a special invitation yesterday," said Prasetyo when met in Kertanegara, Jakarta, Sunday (12/10/2025).

Although, according to Prasetyo, the invitation was received suddenly and was not scheduled beforehand.

"It was indeed a bit sudden in terms of timing, but the invitation was truly requesting the willingness of President Prabowo to attend because it is part of the continuation of negotiations which, God willing, will bring peace to Palestine and especially to Gaza," he said.

For this reason, Prasetyo said, Prabowo immediately left for Egypt on Sunday (12/10/2025) evening, after holding a limited meeting (ratas) at his residence on Jalan Kertanegara, Jakarta.

"So, earlier, the President told us all that in order to maintain good relations, and that this is also part of our ongoing efforts, the President decided to attend the invitation," he said.

Gaza Peace Summit

As previously reported, United States (US) President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi will co-chair a summit in Egypt on Monday, October 13, 2025.

According to an official statement from the Egyptian Presidency, the meeting will be attended by leaders from more than 20 countries.

It is known that this summit aims to end the war in the Gaza Strip, strengthen peace and stability efforts in the Middle East, and open a new phase of regional security.

"This meeting is being held in line with US President Donald Trump's vision of achieving peace in the region and his ongoing efforts to end conflicts in various parts of the world," the statement said, as quoted by Antaranews.

Trump previously announced that Israel and Hamas had agreed to the first phase of a 20-point plan he put forward on September 29, 2025, to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza.

The first phase includes the release of all Israeli prisoners in Gaza in exchange for approximately 2,000 Palestinian prisoners, accompanied by a gradual withdrawal of Israeli troops from the territory, which will take effect on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 12:00 local time.
