BREAKING NEWS 23:19 Ciucu mathematically won the elections for the Capital

Given the current centralization, Ciprian Ciucu mathematically won the elections, according to Mediafax calculations. There are less than 63,000 votes left to count, and the difference between Ciprian Ciucu and Anca Alexandrescu exceeds 70,000 votes, making it impossible to recover the remaining gap. Therefore, the final result can no longer be changed regardless of the distribution of non-centralized votes.

  • Ana Ciceală – 8%

UPDATE A candidate seems to have broken away and will be presented in first place in exit polls with a lead of approximately 5 percent.

UPDATE 20:00. Current data shows that the future mayor will most likely obtain less than 200,000 votes. We remind you that there are potentially 1.8 million voters in Bucharest.

UPDATE 19:30. The latest data shows that the vote in the last hours was"useful". The data is also confirmed by polls with voter profiles. Almost half of them declared that they voted for the"lesser evil".

UPDATE  New estimates show that the gap between the top two is still small. The gap with third place has increased slightly. Attendance will also play a role. One of the two seems to have exhausted the specific pool. And the votes in the last few hours seem to be coming in the direction of the other. The vote in these two hours will certainly count in the final configuration.

UPDATE The estimates as of this time indicate that the trend observed throughout the day is maintained. INSCOP Director, Remus Ștefureac, states that, compared to the measurements from the last week,"no surprises" are emerging regarding the hierarchy of candidates.

UPDATE  The difference between the first is close to the margin of error. The final difference could be only a few thousand votes. A significant factor is also the low voter turnout, which will make the capital's mayoralty win with one of the lowest total votes in history.

UPDATE 15:30  The estimates at this time confirm the close battle in the pre-vote polls. The differences between the leading candidates are small. The difference between the first and second has reduced by half compared to the morning data. It seems that the battle will be fought until the polls close. The evening mobilization could greatly influence the final ranking.

Mediafax will publish at 9:00 PM the first exit poll results, providing an early picture of Bucharest voters in one of the most closely watched electoral competitions of the year.

Who conducts the exit polls for the Bucharest 2025 elections?

The Municipal Electoral Bureau (BEM) has accredited five polling institutes, which will publish three exit polls and a sociological survey throughout the day.

The CURS-Avangarde institutes, owned by former journalist Iosif Buble and sociologist Marius Pieleanu, will conduct a joint exit poll.

The other accredited institutes that will provide the first estimates are:

The Center for International Research and Analyses (CIRA),  owned by sociologist and political commentator Vladimir Ionaș. Previously, 20% of the shares were owned by Marius Pieleanu, who later left the company.

IIC Bio-Trade Consulting SRL,  a company from Maramureș owned by Ionița Stanca. Although the main declared activity is retail trade (food, beverages, tobacco), the secondary NACE codes include social science research.

ARA Public Opinion SRL, accredited to carry out"the only sociological research at the polls" on voting day, according to Antena 3. ARA is 85% owned by Laurențiu Andrei Vasile, the former son-in-law of the founder of the Intact trust, Dan Voiculescu, and administrator at"Antena 3 S.A."

Election day rules prohibit the publication of any exit poll data before the polls close.

1.8 million Bucharest residents are expected to vote

Approximately 1.8 million eligible voters are expected to vote today, December 7, to elect the Mayor of the Capital. Polling stations opened at 07:00 and will close at 21:00.

There are 17 candidates on the ballot, although two of them have withdrawn and announced their support for other competitors.
