Melissa arrived in Cuba early this morning as a Category 3 hurricane and caused flooding, river overflows and landslides in the east of the island.

More than 700,000 people were evacuated in Cuba. A hurricane warning was issued for the provinces of Granma, Santiago de Cuba, Guantánamo, Holguín, and Las Tunas.
