Near the village of Jablonov nad Turnou, two oncoming express trains with many passengers collided.
"All components of the Integrated Rescue System are responding to the scene. Passengers are gradually leaving the train sets, the extent of injuries is not yet known," the police said.
The police secure the accident site, coordinate the work of rescue services, and direct the movement of people in the area.
Emergency line operators 155 are coordinating emergency medical service ambulances. Five ground ambulances and a rescue helicopter are on their way to the scene.
"The number of injured is not yet known," says the Slovak Emergency Medical Service Operations Center.
According to preliminary information, there should be approximately twenty of them.
