Impact on Nuclear Facilities and Verification

Welcome to our live coverage of the escalating situation in the Middle East.

The US has carried out strikes on three nuclear sites in Iran in an extraordinary development in the Middle East.

President Donald Trump said on Truth Social the US had completed a “very successful attack” by dropping a “full payload of bombs” on Fordow, Natanz and Esfahan.

He is expected to speak to the American people in a national address later today.

The attack on Iran comes after American B-2 bombers, capable of carrying “bunker buster” warheads, were seen flying over the Pacific Ocean, sparking speculation over US involvement in the Israel-Iran conflict.

Earlier, the US State Department said it had started evacuating Americans from Israel.

Iran missiles streak through Israel hours after US strike

On Saturday Israel struck one of Iran’s biggest nuclear facilities as part of an overnight campaign that dropped hundreds of missiles across the Islamic Republic.

Entering the ninth day of conflict between the warring countries, the attack on the Isfahan nuclear site was intended to “deepen” the damage the Jewish state had already inflicted on the facility after a bombing back on June 13 strike, the Israeli Defense Forces said.

Iran says it is ready for negotiation but will “never accept reducing nuclear activities to zero”.
