After the arrest of Julio César Chávez Junior in the United States by agents of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service (ICE) was announced this Wednesday, July 2, the video of his capture in Los Angeles, California was revealed.

Through social media, journalist Matthew Seedorff revealed the moment in which the former world champion was handcuffed by ICE agents when he was in Studio City, California, this Wednesday, July 2.

The footage shows Chávez Jr. standing next to a black van while an ICE agent places a chain around his waist and handcuffs him.

The boxer, who remains calm in the face of the situation, speaks with a second agent who asks him if he has anything in the pockets of his jacket, to which he responds that he only has his cell phone in his pants.

The second agent proceeds to search the former champion's bags and open his jacket to see if he was hiding any objects.

After they finished handcuffing him, Julio César Chávez Jr. asked if they needed to notify his lawyer beforehand that they had an arrest warrant against him.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported that the boxer's arrest was due to an outstanding arrest warrant in Mexico for organized crime and firearms trafficking. It also indicated that he could be a member of the Sinaloa Cartel.

Hours later, the Attorney General's Office ( FGR ) confirmed that Julio César Chávez Jr. has had an arrest warrant since March 2023 for the aforementioned crimes.
